My Parties

Threw my kids Halloween party on the 19th and as usual got into such a time crunch the last 45 minutes that I wasn’t able to get the pictures that I wanted to.  I did get some thanks to my husband however it doesn’t do it justice, but the important thing is that the kids had a great time!  I went big this year and invited 50 kids and surprisingly 42 RSVP’d yes and all 42 showed up, something that rarely happens.  I started planning the party in September so I had enough time but it still got away from me.  Have 3 kids that are different genders and ages made it a little more difficult this year to come up with some fun activities that they would all enjoy.

The first thing the kids did when they arrived was look for their bag and name tags.  They had to keep the bags for all the treats & prizes they were going to get and the name tag so we knew who they were with masks on and also what group they were assigned to.  I broke all 42 kids down into 6 groups so it was more organized and not just chaos, it worked very well and I highly recommend doing that for large parties.  Their names tags were from Oriental Trading, I had fun coming up with funny ways they had died.  Yes, I know it is morbid but so is Halloween, Right??

The kids had to find their name scattered around the tables.

As we waiting 10 minutes for all our guests to arrive the kids had to guess how many candy corns were in a jar, decorate their bags with stickers and go through all the gross feel bags.  This gave them some time to see all their friends and check out their costumes as well.

Then we separated into our groups which I did by gender and age and started rotating through all the activities we had.  I hired 3 teenagers to come help and they did a fabulous job.  They all dressed up and the kids loved them.  One of them was my fortune teller and she did phenomenal.  She read palms, did tarot cards and just read their energy.   So much fun for the kids even though they knew she wasn’t real, although she may have fooled a few of them!  We also played pass the pumpkin (our version of hot potato), played pinned the nose on the witch, bobbed for apples and had a relay scavenger hunt through the graveyard.  I had a list of 10 things for the kids to find hidden and they went 2 at a time and had 10 seconds to find what they were told.  They loved it!!!

All these games got those kids hungry so we took a break and gave them some healthy snacks., including the apple they bobbed for.  I made mummy dogs with turkey hotdogs, cut cheese with mini Halloween cookie cutters, fresh grapes, carrots with ranch, a chex mix, and mummy pretzels.    The kids also enjoyed some blue kool aid and juiceboxes!  Of course no pics of my food but here is the display I had for them!

After the kids ate we split them into 3 age groups and did our pinatas.  Three pinatas can take some time but the kids were so patient to wait their turns!!  Our party started at 3:30 and was over at 5:30, the perfect amount of time.  After the pinata we announced our candy corn jar winner which was a 5 year old, he guessed 230 and there were 233 pieces in the jar.  After that the kids got about 10 minutes of free play before their parents arrived.  Thanked them all for coming and gave them a spooky popcorn ball on their way out!!  WHEW!!  DONE!!  But can’t wait to do it again another year!

Thanks for coming to our party!!
